After coming home from a long day of work and seeing the to-do list you have at home, it can be hard to make time for exercise.  There are a lot of people that neglect their exercise simply because they feel like they can’t fit it into their schedule. Making exercise a priority in your life is important. Not only does it have positive health implications, but it can also save you money in the long run and even improve your emotional health.

Ease Into Exercise

If you are not used to exercising on a consistent basis, you should start by slowly easing your body into exercise.  This is not an excuse to skip a few days of exercise, but rather make sure that you know your limits and you are not over exerting yourself.  There are a lot of people that think they can dive right into intense exercise and end up getting hurt.

Walk Around The Block

Start by getting yourself out and walking around your block. Eventually jog a block and then walk a block. Continue to increase your intensity until you reach a level that you know will keep you healthy. If you are having a hard time finding the balance between what exercise is enough and what is too much, talk with your doctor. Make sure that you discuss any new training with your doctor to ensure it is a good fit for you.

Decrease Risk of Disease

When you exercise you are also going to be dramatically decreasing your risk for a variety of diseases. Not only are these diseases detrimental to your health, but you also have to realize that they are going to cost you more money. By avoiding disease all together you will be avoiding the doctors visits, prescription costs, and even the cost of different therapies or rehabilitation you may need.

Improve Your Emotional Health

Exercising is a great way to improve your emotional health as well. Your body releases chemicals that make you feel good when you get out and exercise. It is important that you are moving consistently, keeping your body healthy and working to be healthier on a daily basis. The investment you put into your health now will more than pay off in the long run.
